Brazil - Communication and Awareness

Players Required:
10

WHY USE IT:

A session that requires players to communicate and be aware of each other. Brazil has immense individual talent and players scattered worldwide. This activity can develop a sense of team.

SET UP:

4v4 with targets on the end lines in a 35x20 grid. Keep a supply of balls nearby to keep the activity moving as much as possible. All 10 players wear the same uniform

HOW TO PLAY:

Identify two teams of four. The attacking team (circled in red) attempts to play from target to target. If a pass goes back to the most recent target used as support that is fine. If the ball goes to the far target the team retains possession with one team mate stepping out and the target now joining the team as it now goes in the other direction.

Progression/alternative:

1.  Take away the support option, becoming an effective 5v4 from 6v4.

2.  The player who finds the target must be the player to step out.

3.  Specify how the player joining must do so, on the pass, or on the dribble.

TECHNIQUES:

1.  Passing and receiving.

2.  Combination play in tight spaces.

MAIN COACHING POINTS:

1.  Anticipate goal scoring and be the first to change direction.

2.  The players on the end line must communicate with all memebers of the attacking team .

3.  Anticipate changes of possession to make a fast transition.
