First pass sets the play in motion. Left back plays the ball in front of the right back who works it wide. If right  mid is left open and has the touch line secured, the first pass may be a long ball there 'IF' the left back can clear the buildout line with the ball.

The second passes where the trap is laid. If the defense crashes inside to the ball, the right back plays up the touch line to the right mid. If the defense crashes outside to take away the right mid, the left back steps up and the ball is played in front of the left back. The center mid and left mid work into positions between the defenders and the left back plays up to one of them. We are trying to trap the opponents midfielders in our half of the field. Once we get that second pass, we should have a 4v2 or 4v3 situation and a chance on goal
