Ruud (Rudy) Pompert
Since his arrival in the US in 1994, Ruud Pompert has worked with great passion as a coach and director at all levels of soccer; recreational, travel, premier, DA / MLS Next Academy, NWSL, and NCAA D1 and D3 soccer. Ruud is a faculty member at Buffalo State College in the Health & Wellness Department and teaches Techniques and Theories of Coaching Youth Soccer. As a director with Empire Buffalo Stallions, he is currently responsible for the Zone 1 and the goalkeeper programs.
In the Netherlands, Ruud was a goalkeeper at the highest amateur level and member of the Dutch national university team. He studied journalism and worked as a freelancer for several newspapers and magazines. Among those were leading soccer magazines Voetbal International and De Voetbaltrainer. As a young journalist, Ruud also worked in the media department of Ajax Amsterdam for 4 years. “During the day I was always watching the practice sessions of the youth and senior teams at Ajax. I witnessed the rise of Louis van Gaal's early 1990’s super team from very close by. It became the foundation of my soccer coaching philosophy; enjoyment and playing dominant, fun soccer.”
Ruud holds, among others, the US Soccer A and B license, the USC Director of Coaching and Advanced National diplomas, and the KNVB Goalkeeper License. Currently, he is an assistant coach at Niagara University, working with the goalkeepers on the Women's team and Director of Coaching for the Empire Buffalo Stallions
