This will be our formation on the field for Indoor Soccer. Technically, not would be called a 1-2-1-2-1 formation. That's 1 goalie, 2 fullbacks, 1 defensive midfielder/center back, 2 attacking midfielders, 1 striker. Our positioning is essentially 2 triangles, which facilitates both passing opportunities and layers to both our attack and defense. The units should move as a whole up down the field, to the extent possible. The attacking triangle is wide to allow for passing opportunities and spreading the opponent's defense. The defensive triangle is compact or tight to allow us to provide as much protection as possible against runs into our box and shots on our goal. When the attacking triangle is in the opponent's half, the defensive triangle should be up at midfield. When our defense is engaged and protecting our goal, the attacking midfielders should be back in our half helping press the ball so our defenders can remain compact in front of our goal.
