Set Up:

The teams play 4v4 plus two, with teams trying to score in the large triangle goal versus two goalkeepers. During the game, the two goalkeepers can only guard one side of the triangle at a time and must shift quickly from one side to another. To score, the ball must be played on the ground and all the way through the triangle. Balls stopped by the keepers inside of the triangle do not result in a score.

During the game, there is a large emphasis placed on GKs communicating with each other. The goalkeeper closest to the ball should call out “I’m up!” and dive towards the ball. The second goalkeeper acts as a back up, making his dives behind the first goalkeeper in order to avoid collisions.

Coaching Points:

1    Defending – Always pressure the ball.

2    Decision Making – Cover the most dangerous players first.

3    Effort – Never give up on a play. Play to completion.

Progressions:

1   Progress to a larger field with three triangle goals. The keepers must move from goal to goal during the game.
