Set Up:

14 players are set up on a split field, playing 6v6. During play, each team designates two players to stay in the defending half, two to stay in the attacking half, and two that can use the entire field (Players 1 and 2 in the diagram). The attacking team may only shoot on goal after a player comes over from the defending half to receive a layoff pass (square or backwards) from a teammate. When the ball is played out of bounds, the game is re-started by the Feeder.

Coaching Points:

1.  The team in possession should expand the field immediately after winning the ball.

2.  Anticipate the pass into the attacking half and start your run early.

3.  Maintain possession until a good opportunity to attack materializes. Don’t force it.

Progressions:

1.  Use the up and back combination instead of the layoff pass.
