Into the Corner, #2

Set Up:

12-16 players are set up in the attacking third, with lines starting at the cones.  The Feeder begins play with a pass to either of the flank attackers, and all of the players release with the Feeder’s first touch. Play continues 3v3 to goal. If the defenders win the ball, they can score in the two small goals set up outside of the penalty area. During the drill, the Feeders alternate service to both flanks, and the two teams switch places every 5-10 minutes.

Coaching Points:

1.  Look to get to the end line for a cross or a setback. Turn the corner if you can. 

2.  Hold your run or check away from the ball until your teammate is in a position to cross.

3.  Watch the play develop, and then decide on a near post or far post run.

Progressions:

1.  Add a neutral attacker.

2.  Progress to 6v4.
