1 v 1 or 2 v 1

Set Up:

Simple 1v1 exercise (Diagram #1 above) and rotation involving a wall player (Diagram #2) that players may want to use as a decoy before taking the defender on? Or use for a give and go?

Coaching Points:

  • Close control, change direction, change pace

  • Be creative and unpredictable. Use the practice to try new moves and solutions when 1v1

  • Defending 1v1 look to delay and frustrate the attacker and if the opportunity arises, win the ball and attack the other goal

This can easily be adapted to 2v2 utilizing the same rotation but giving players more to think about and work on.
